New Era Model (Primary) School, Effurun, a citadel of academic excellence was established by a renounced educationist, Dr. (Lady) Anne I. Bazuaye-Ekwuyasi on the 5th of September 1994. From a very humble beginning at 9, Bright Hope Street, off Airport Road, Effurun. The school grew from about twelve pupils to over one hundred pupils at the end of first term of its inception.
With committed and dedicated teachers, the school was able to attain the vision of its founder through excellent performances of the pupils in external examinations and competitions
The school had its first Graduation/Prize Giving Day Ceremony in July 1996.
The school moved to its permanent site during the 1997/98 academic session after its first block of classrooms was successfully completed and commissioned by the then Commissioner of Education Prof A. E. Ekoko on the 12th of July, 1997.
The success stories of the school have been phenomenal over the years. Our learners have been consistence in their performances in all external examinations. Till date the school has not recorded failure in the Cognitive and Placement Examination conducted for the Basic 5/6 learners.
